Basic Childbirth Education (In person/Lamaze )

Our Basic Childbirth Education class is an evidence-based class based on “The Lamaze Six Healthy Birth Practices.”

This class explores foundational concepts of the birthing process, such as childbirth is a natural process, that women have an innate ability to give birth, and that unnecessary medical interference with that natural process can increase risk for the mother and baby.

The preparatory skills and education learned in this class are intended to support the natural birthing process and avoid unneeded intervention.

Additionally, “The Lamaze Six Healthy Birth Practices” will be discussed in depth, and are as follows:

1. Let labor begin on its own.
2. Walk, move around, and change positions throughout labor.
3. Bring a loved one, friend, or doula for continuous support.
4. Avoid interventions that are not medically necessary.
5. Avoid giving birth on your back and follow your body’s urges to push.
6. Keep the mother and baby together; it’s best for mother, baby, and breastfeeding.
