We shall be gathering round the fire to celebrate the Lammas Festival, a time of harvest, halfway through summer, where we switch gears from "go go go" to a more relaxed, gentle movement. From the blazing mid-day sun to a barmy summer's eve. It's an amazing time to reflect on everything that we've been blessed with and created this summer, and to celebrate that, chill out and be humans round the fire.Fire, Alowen, Tatewari, Grandpa, is the most ancient shaman we know. Humans have been honouring and learning from this spirit since time immemorial. This ceremony is a popular one round here and people return again and again to connect with and honour the fire in this way.
The night goes roughly like this:
This part normally finishes around 10/10.30pm.
After this, we switch gears, bring out snacks and tea, people stay for as long as they like - we share food, play songs, share poems and stories, drink tea until the last person leaves.
During this part of the ceremony, people are free to socialise and chat and hang out, but when someone wants to "take the stage" and share a song or poem or story etc. we shake the rattle, all conversation stops, so all ears and hearts are present and they offer their gift to the fire. And we continue until the last one is gone.
Hope to see you round the fire.
Big love,Freddie
