In “Mozart’s Contemporaries”, La Speranza performs selections from their upcoming album. Discover string quartet gems by French prodigy Hyacinthe Jadin, the respected Paul Wranitzky, and the masterful Joseph Eybler in an unforgettably engaging performance.
Based in Houston, Texas, La Speranza evokes the vibrant life of the Enlightenment through historically informed chamber music performances. One of the preeminent American ensembles dedicated (exclusively) to the performance of 18th and 19th century chamber music repertoire, La Speranza infuses performances with passionate authenticity. La Speranza performs 4-5 concert programs in their annual concert series as well as several outreach programs in community centers around Houston. In addition to their upcoming album, Mozart’s Contemporaries, La Speranza recently performed all six of Beethoven’s Op. 18 string quartets in their first biannual festival.
Named after the Italian word for “hope”, La Speranza was founded in 2016. Violinists Joanna Becker and Maria Lin, founder and violist Yvonne Smith, and cellist Fran Koiner are La Speranza’s core musicians. Find out more at www.la-speranza.com.
