Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. In this class, we will explore how to apply sustained, precise pressure and slow, intentional strokes to release chronic tension and structural holding patterns in the body. This technique aims to restore balance and alignment within the body, addressing chronic pain, improving range of motion, and enhancing body awareness. Benefits include reduced pain and stiffness, improved posture, increased flexibility, and enhanced relaxation. This work will emphasize proper body mechanics, clear communication with clients, and the ability to differentiate between productive discomfort and pain.

In this interactive hands-on BASIC Introductory class, you will learn:

1. Description of the Modality

2. Account of its historical development

3. Benefits & Contraindications

4. Specific techniques for basic training

Please wear comfortable flexible clothing. Bring 1 set of sheets (flat-fitted-pillowcase), 1 throw blanket, and a pump bottle with your preferred lubricant.

Certificates of completion will be issued at the end of the class. Please use the name you want on your certificate when you register.

You Do NOT need to bring a table, we have plenty!

This class will be with current massage students at the WIofCC however only licensed massage therapists will earn continuing education credits.
