SLAKE

Like a sword pulled from the sea, Slake's front person Mary Claire has a voice and song that exist in the realm of ancient lore, forbidden love, and quenched thirst. This bay-area-based artist moves and performs along the water's edge, creating a melodic sense of belonging in the transient nature of each story crafted.

The current iteration of their tune has grown from Mary Claire's self-titled singer-songwriter days. After tracking their new record during a hot summer in the Hudson Valley, Slake's debut album 'Let's Get Married' has distilled the sonic quality of their performance to carve out and embody a genre that can only be defined as lesbian doom-folk.

The presence of their live set has transformed over the years into something more clairvoyant, something with a crunch, something soft with teeth - like a walk through fall leaves with a long-distance lover. Slake performs like how you've always dreamt that first kiss might feel.

FIGURE EIGHT

a candle burns; devotion.

2024’s self-titled EP (released on Cherub Dream Records) was recorded live to tape at San Francisco’s Different Fur Studios. This 4 song EP is a blast of cacophonous noise-pop by way of crushing post hardcore. The guitars are punishing, drums are frantic, and the low end keeps it all tethered to the ground while the vocals soar. Thematically, figure eight explores presence, devotion, and ancestral memory.

Slugfeast

Slugfeast is three friends that love to rock. Slugfeast is inspired by camping, road trips, the desert, house shows, fuzzy guitars, and our friends. Slugfeast is Northern California auditory sludge that hits like a bruise changing color.

FAQs

  1. all ages?

    Yes. Bring your ID!

  2. why, is there a bar?

Yes, we have beer, wine, NA options, and a special batch-made cocktail for sale.

  3. anything else?

There's only one bathroom, and it's inside! If you have the capability to do yer whiz biz comfortably outdoors, that might be easier if you can find a secluded area. (Hint: it's out back, to the right, and around the corner on the hill by the dumpsters. Real ones know.)

  4. ok.. anything else??

We've got a big concrete backyard with a fire pit and plenty of seating. In efforts to be respectful of the neighboring warehouse spaces (mostly art studios) and property lines, we have to keep everyone from going beyond our own zone. Sucks to have to be strict about it but we've gotten complaints.
