The Capoeira Training Club in East Point is led by a dedicated team of instructors who embody both the physical artistry and cultural heritage of capoeira. The hosts include Macaquinho, who began training in 2011 and focuses on creating classes that balance challenge with accessibility, helping students build agility, strength, and confidence; Lobinho, who brings over 20 years of experience and emphasizes the cultural, musical, and historical roots of Capoeira Angola; and Contra Mestre Gugu Quilombola, a senior teacher with more than three decades of practice, recognized for his leadership in preserving Afro-Brazilian traditions and guiding the Quilombola de Luz lineage. Together, they foster an inclusive community where students not only learn martial techniques and acrobatics but also engage deeply with capoeira’s music, history, and ancestral spirit.
