Mitchell Johnson began singing at age 5 in the music ministry of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, and started directing choirs by age 12 in Badin, NC. He has since worked with college choirs, praise teams, and churches on vocal training, choir development, songwriting, and more. His career includes touring and recording with gospel artists such as the late Melvin & Tunesha Crispell Jr., Pastor John P. Kee & New Life, and Patrick Love. He currently serves as Music Director at Mayfield Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and as Vocal Director and Worship Leader at Steele Creek Church in Charlotte, NC. On February 9, 2016, Mitchell founded Rehoboth, inspired by Genesis 26:22. “...and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now, the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land”. His music includes the singles “Better for Me” (2017), “Keep On Holding On” (2020), and “I’m Covered” (2024), with a live project set to release September 20, 2025. Mitchell and Rehoboth were nominated for the 2019 Eddy Awards and won 2021 Avidity Awards for Community Choir and Director of the Year.
